Earl Dog

This little terrier was inspired by a painting by George Earl. 1824-1904

He was a prominent painter of sporting dogs but also produced little portraits similar to this, that showed heaps of character and a subtle sense of humour.

Notably Maud Earl, George's daughter who was one of the few Victorian women who managed to make an independent living from painting.
